ABOUT ME
I am a ceramicist and painter from Washington, DC, pursuing degrees in Art Education and Ceramics at Towson University. Aside from my studies, I am a ceramics instructor at Baltimore Clayworks, a non-profit ceramics institution. Before joining Baltimore Clayworks, I worked as a full-time tutor and paraeducator in early childhood and special education programs in public and charter schools in DC. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the transformative power of art in education.
Teaching Philosophy:
I hope to equip students with technical ability and a sense of empowerment through creativity; I want my students to walk away knowing their ideas, emotions, and experiences are valid and worthy of expression, having gained skills that will transfer to any field they pursue such as the ability to create, critique, and collaborate. I continue to advocate for greater access to art education for marginalized communities and teach rooted in experiential learning, incorporating constructivist learning theory by emphasizing exploration and reflection. My instruction encourages students to reflect on real-world challenges and gives them ownership over their education while helping them develop the necessary skills to think critically and independently.
